BUSINESSES in Chester city centre have been hit by a power cut this afternoon (Monday, December 3) which will take hours to fix.

ScottishPower has reported a number of properties have been hit by "an unplanned power cut" which is affecting properties in Watergate Row, Watergate Row South and surrounding streets.

The firm adds it has been caused by a fault in the electrical network.

A statement on the ScottishPower website adds: "Our engineers are on their way and the power should be back on by 6.15pm.
