A FUNDRAISER for Cheshire Down’s Syndrome Support Group (CDSSG) has raised over £4,000.

Ellesmere Port community choir The Fireflies entertained guests at the Ladies’ evening shopping and beauty event held at Abbeywood Estate and Gardens in Delamere.

A total of 250 ladies were treated to makeovers, beauty treatments and a festive shopping experience at the sell-out event organised by the charity that supports over 150 young people with Down’s syndrome and their families in Cheshire.

CDSSG recently took home a trio of accolades at the North West Charity Awards in October which included Best Fundraising Campaign, Young Charity Ambassador and a Rising Star Award for Small Charity, Big Impact.

The £4,320 raised will be spent on the charity’s continued programme of support for children with Down’s syndrome in Cheshire.

The charity also provides peer support, Makaton training, advice and information.

CEO Julie Duff said: “We can’t thank the Fireflies community choir enough for raising the roof at our fundraising event. They were absolutely fantastic and their contribution added to the warm atmosphere of the night.

"As a charity we feel so fortunate to be well supported by members of our Cheshire community including our regular volunteers and photographer Martin Hobby who took some fabulous images that captured the atmosphere of the evening.”

Fireflies is a non-auditioning community singing group based in Ellesmere Port with around 60 members from North Wales, Cheshire and the Wirral.

Fireflies musical director Georgina West added: “We were delighted to be invited to sing at this event and help fundraise for the charity that helps so many children with Down’s syndrome and their families.

"Our choir members are incredibly dedicated and give their time freely. I’m very proud of their contribution to this cause.”
