THE West Cheshire Credit Union has officially opened its new premises in Chester city centre.

Located directly opposite the main bus interchange, the service caters for everyone in the community wishing to save or borrow money.

Residents within the borough may need to turn to credit leading up to Christmas and this is the safe and affordable way to do it.

Leader of Cheshire West and Chester Council, Cllr Samantha Dixon, said: “The opening of the West Cheshire Credit Union in a prime location is great for residents, making it easily accessible.

"We fully support the service, reducing the risk for our residents falling prey to the extortionate costs of doorstep lenders, payday loans, and, in some cases, loan sharks, where residents potentially struggle to pay back the loans and get themselves further and further into debt.

"Residents are able to save safely and borrow money at more affordable rates.”

General manager of WCCU Neil Jay said: “This is an exciting time for the West Cheshire Credit Union. We have been working hard to open an office in central Chester so we can meet the needs of our customers.

"The credit union is open to everyone in the community, no matter their age or circumstances and we work closely with each individual to help and support them and advise on the best options.

"We are in an accessible location to residents and welcome anyone to pop in and have a chat to see how we can help with their finances. We offer affordable loans as well as a number of saving schemes to suit your circumstances.”
