CALLS are being made for planners to reject an application to convert stables into accommodation at wedding venue Delamere Manor.

The manor, former home of Take That’s Gary Barlow, is used as a function room for weddings, and now plans have been submitted to build 18 en-suite bedrooms and a new car park at the Cuddington estate.

The plans also include two retrospective change of use applications – the first to retain use the manor house as an events facility, the second to continue using the outdoor manège area for car parking.

In June 2017 the site was granted a 12-month temporary permission for change of use to a function venue to give the applicant time to demonstrate the venue could operate without impacting on the amenity of nearby residents.

In the latest application it said the proposals would provide jobs and economic benefits for the community and would not harm the local residents or the countryside.

However residents, councillors and environmental protection officers are recommending refusal for this latest application because of the impact that noise from the venue was having on the local community.

In her consultation submission Kate Davis from Cheshire West and Chester Council’s (CWaC) environmental protection team, said: “Unfortunately since the temporary permission was granted the operation of the site has generated ongoing noise issues for nearby residents and the local authority has received numerous complaints regarding noise breakout from the venue while functions are taking place.

“These have been supported by noise app recordings obtained by the complainant, as well as evidence collected via the use of digital audio recording equipment.”

She said the retrospective part of application did not propose any additional measures to reduce and control noise and added that the proposed new suites would exacerbate the ongoing noise issues.

Cuddington Parish Council recommended refusal on grounds of the loss of residents’ amenity, noise disturbance and development in the green belt. It also noted that the temporary planning permission had lapsed and asked for the application to be called in.

In his submission Cllr Harry Tonge, CWaC’s ward representative for Weaver and Cuddington, also recommended refusal and said that if the application was not turned down he would request it to be called in under delegated powers.
