THE festive season is looking a little brighter in Ellesmere Port thanks to the town's annual lights switch-on.

Mayor of Ellesmere Port Councillor Karen Shore officially switched on this year's lights last Thursday at Civic Square.

Activities during the evening included the Lantern Parade and puppets, Ellesmere Port Round Table with Father Christmas and his sleigh, Brio Bear, children’s rides, stalls, food and local dance group First Footers.

Cllr Shore said: “I’d like to thank everyone who joined us at Civic Square to switch on the lights. All the groups and people involved helped make the evening a great family occasion and we were lucky enough to get a visit from Father Christmas as well.”

Ellesmere Port will also be the home to Aladdin, the Christmas pantomime, which runs from December 16-24 at the Civic Hall.
