TIME is running out to book your place on a dash through Chester's city streets dressed as Father Christmas.

More than 1,300 people have already signed up to this year's Chester Santa Dash, supporting the Hospice of the Good Shepherd and The Countess Charity.

The event, jointly organised by the local charities, has over the past seven years raised in excess of £250,000 which has gone directly back to helping people in the local community.

Each year, local businesses also get involved with the Dash and this year Humphreys of Chester has signed up in mass to support the hospice and hospital.

Guy Mansfield, senior branch manager, said: “The Humphreys of Chester team love nothing more than dressing up and getting involved to raise money for charity. We all live in Chester and know

how important local charities are to the community.”

“The hospital and hospice have helped all of us at one point or another in our lives and we want to give something back.

"We have a team of 12+ entered so far, we even have some K9 reindeer and baby elves all itching to get their Santa suits on.”

Justin Caroe, community fundraiser for the hospice, said: "We are delighted that Humphreys have taken on the challenge of the Santa Dash this year. We welcome local businesses to get involved with supporting local charities and what better way of getting into the Christmas spirit in the office than taking part in this event.

“With over 1,300 people already registered we are looking forward to the event, and don’t forget it’s not how quickly you get around the route it’s about raising money for two great local charities.”

This will be the event's eighth year and will take entrants around Chester’s iconic landmarks including Grosvenor Park, Amphitheatre, Eastgate Clock, Chester Cathedral and Chester Town Hall.

Those wishing to take part in the event on Sunday, December 2, can book their place at www.chestersantadash.com or call 01244 851811.

The Hospice of the Good Shepherd has helped thousands of residents with life-limiting illnesses and relies on donations and fundraising to continue to help even more people in the community.

The Countess Charity generates and manages charitable income to enhance and improve patient facilities at the Countess of Chester Hospital. They work with the local community, corporates and

grant making trusts to raise money for over 80 funds across the hospital - each one making a real difference to patient care.
