A MAN caught drug driving had not touched cannabis since, a court heard.
Bank worker George Edwards, 24, of Avondale Crescent in Gresford, admitted driving with 5.3 milligrammes of cannabis in his blood compared to the legal limit of two.
His solicitor, Nick Cross, said his client had not touched cannabis since and would not do so again.
Edwards was banned from driving for a year and fined £200 with £85 costs and an £85 surcharge.
Prosecutor Rhian Jackson said police stopped a Peugeot 207 on Chester Road, Wrexham, in the early hours of August 25.
There was a strong smell of cannabis in the vehicle and Edwards provided a positive roadside drugs test.
Mr Cross told North East Wales Magistrates Court that his client was doing a very short journey.
He was a hard-working young man who joined M&S Bank when he left university.
A driving ban would cause him work difficulties because it was a 7am start.
Mr Cross said it had been “a silly error of judgement” and Edwards thoroughly regretted his actions.
“He has not smoked cannabis since the incident and never will again,” he told the Mold court.
“He is ashamed and remorseful.”
District judge Roger Lowe told Edwards had lost his good character by a stupid offence.
