Congestion of more than 12 miles has been reported back to junction 24 at Ashton.
The incident happened just before 7am but nobody was hurt, police say.

Travel time through the section is around one hour and 50 minutes.
Congestion is also bad in Warrington town centre with many HGVs trying to divert through the town.
Manchester Road in Woolston is especially badly affected by the jams, while the M62 has also been hit.
