AN APPEAL has been launched following reports of an altercation on the M53.

Cheshire Police were called to an incident about 3.45am on Sunday, November 11, to reports of an altercation on the northbound carriageway of the M53 in Ellesmere Port.

The incident, which took place between junctions seven and eight, is alleged to have involved around six men who were reportedly arguing on the main carriageway.

Following the incident, the men are believed to have fled the scene in a car, possibly a Volkswagen Passat, headed towards Wallasey.

Officers attended the scene but were unable to find any trace of the men or the vehicle.

Detective Sergeant Robert Grantham, said: Enquiries in relation to this incident are in the early stages and we are currently trying to establish exactly what has taken place.

“The M53 is a busy road and I believe there would have been a number of people in the area at the time of the incident who may hold vital information.

“As part of my enquiries I’m keen to hear from anyone who was driving in the area at the time of the incident and witnessed anything suspicious.

“I’d also like to hear from anyone with dashcam footage of the M53 between junctions 7 and 1 between 3.30am and 4.30am today, Sunday 11 November.”
