A SERVICE and parade were at the centre of a number of events to mark the centenary of the First World War on Remembrance Sunday.

At 6am, a lone piper played 'When the Battle's O'er' at the war memorial. The Dean of Chester will read out a special affirmation followed by prayers.

Later, between 10am and 11am, hundreds gathered for a Service of Commemoration and Thanksgiving of Remembrance.

After the service, a military parade made its way through the historic city.

Photographerer Simon Warburton was there to capture these moving photographs and videos.
