KEV Beatty was being presented with a most outstanding competitor award at a national martial arts event.
He completed alongside a number of other members of the Tokon Karate Academy who also enjoyed success at the Bukonkai National Championships held at Gresford.
They were: Ryan Owen - gold junior kumite, Alex Price - bronze female senior kumite, Jade Ward - gold female int Kata, Luca Jones - gold boys Kumite, TKA senior male team kumite champions - Craig Dobson, Kev Beatty, Mark Simpson and Neil Richards.
The Tokon Karate Academy, which is run by Antony Pendlebury from Upton, Chester, has bases in Chester, Ellesmere Port, Wrexham and Pensby, Wirral.
Sensei Anthony said: “I’m extremely proud and pleased with how the team performed.
“We have a big year next year competitively in British and European championships, so this was a good warm-up.”
