A DAY nursery at Chester Rugby Club has been sold to a family-owned childcare provider.

Specialist business property adviser Christie & Co has completed on the leasehold sale of Bunnies Day Nursery, in Chester, to Kids Planet, a nursery group operator based in the North West of England.

The nursery, which is situated on the grounds of Chester Rugby Club, was established in 1995 by the committee of the rugby club to provide childcare for infants between 12 weeks and preschool age.

Occupying a plot within the four acre site in Piper’s Ash, the purchasers have exciting plans to build an new, innovative purpose built nursery that will open its doors in summer 2019.

The new setting will be consistent with Kids Planet’s existing new build sites, benefitting from spacious brightly coloured rooms and extensive secure outdoor play facilities. Following construction, all staff and children at the existing site will transfer to the new nursery.

Martin Huber, part of the committee for Chester Rugby Club which owns the freehold interest of the site, said: “Having not gone through this process before, Sofia's guidance and obvious market knowledge was very helpful and added real value. Rather than merely finding a buyer, we wanted an experienced operator that had the vision and ability to take the business forward and make it better. Sofia and Christie & Co delivered that for us."

Clare Roberts, CEO of Kids Planet, added: “We are really thrilled to have Bunnies Day Nursery in Chester to add to our group.

"Chester has been a key geographical target us for a while. This acquisition has given us the opportunity to take over an already established nursery and its team and to have a real vision for its future with the opportunity to build a new nursery on the same site.”

Sofia Beck, senior business agent at Christie & Co, said “I am extremely pleased to have assisted the committee of Chester Rugby Club with their plans for Bunnies Day Nursery. We were not only able to secure them a buyer for the current business, but also introduce a first class operator tenant with creative vision, who intend to use this impressive site to its full potential. The handover has gone smoothly, and the upcoming redevelopment has been well received by both staff and parents alike, resulting in a positive outcome all round.

"We wish both the Rugby Club and Kids Planet all the best, and we’re excited to see the new nursery when it opens its doors next summer.”
