A CHESTER city centre hairdresser has received a top accolade at a national awards ceremony.

Lieanne Buckley, from Lieanne Gents Stylist in Watergate Street, Chester, has been awarded one of the highest hairdressing accolades in the UK and Ireland, winning the UK & Ireland Gold in the Male Grooming Category at the Wella Professionals TrendVision Award 2018 UK & Ireland Final.

Lieanne competed against hundreds of hairdressers from across the UK and Ireland at the regional heats earlier this year, securing her position at the UK and Ireland final, held at the famed Roundhouse in London's Camden.

The national final was hosted by TV star Emma Willis and included a glitzy drinks reception, exquisite formal dinner and some incredible hair shows.

The night saw her compete against some of the country's most talented men's hairdressers.

The next step for Lieanne is to join the Wella Professionals TrendVision mentoring day learning from industry greats Leonardo Rizzo (Sanrizz) and Charlie Taylor (Charlie Taylor).

Sheila Jackson, education and events director, Wella UK & Ireland, said: "The Wella Professionals TrendVision Award is a truly global hairdressing competition that focusses on nurturing and developing talent.

"It is one of the most respected programmes in the hairdressing industry and we are incredibly proud of the winners. It is a huge achievement to be recognised at this level and I wish all the winners every success."
