A MAN has been arrested following a fatal road traffic collision near Helsby.

The crash happened on the A56 Chester Road at around 8.30pm yesterday (Monday, October 29).

It involved a Mini Cooper, a blue Lexus and an HGV that was parked in a lay-by.

The driver of the Mini, a 19-year-old man from Frodsham, died at the scene.

A 26-year-old man, said to be the driver of the Lexus, has been arrested and is currently assisting Cheshire Police with enquiries.

A spokesman said: "At the time of the collision the BMW Mini Cooper and the Lexus were travelling along the A56 Chester Road towards Helsby from the Frodsham direction before the BMW Mini Cooper collided with a HGV parked in a lay-by."

Enquiries are ongoing and officers are keen to hear from anyone who witnessed the collision or may have relevant information about it - including dashcam footage.
