THERE were a few strange characters on Neston’s Friday Market for the Spooky Halloween Market.

Neston’s Mayor, Cllr Pat Kynaston presented the Mayor's prize for the best fancy dress to the Bluebonnet Sweets American style baking stall.

Cllr Kynaston and Cllr Christine Warner, dressed in her Halloween finery, also judged the competition for the best carved pumpkins.

First prize was awarded to Deeside Bakeries, second prize to White’s deli and meats stall and the third prize went to the ‘Happy Hens’ eggs and pet supplies stall.

Cllr Pat Kynaston said: "I was delighted at the response from traders and the high quality of pumpkin creations. Choosing the winners was not easy and this does reflect the standard on show."

Cllr Warner added: “I was pleased that despite the challenging weather conditions I managed to hang on to my witch's hat! Thank you to all the traders for making this a memorable occasion."

A lot of fun was had by all on a wet and windy Friday Market, thanks to all those who joined in the fun.
