PUPILS of The King's School Chester Junior School struck gold in a sporting contest.

Youngsters took part in The Association of Junior Independent Schools (AJIS) Cross Country Competition at the Rossall course in Lancashire.

The course was 2km long and with very windy conditions all pupils showed great determination and bravery allowing of all of their preparation to pay off.

All pupils returned with a team medal, with the teams placing on the podium in all four categories – a record-breaking effort!

The Under 10 girls, U10 boys and U11 girls took gold, while the U11 boys captured bronze.

In addition to this, there were individual achievements to celebrate as well. Ben Pold won silver in U10 boys, Jacob Watson won bronze in U10 boys, Lucie Thornton won bronze in U10 girls and Eleanor Williams won bronze U11 Girls.

Margaret Ainsworth, head of infants and junior school, said: “We’re hugely proud of their achievements, making history for being the most successful King’s AJIS Cross Country teams to date.”
