A MAN has appeared in court charged with two offences under the Explosive Substances Act.
Ryan Wilson, 30, entered no pleas and spoke only to confirm his personal details at Chester Magistrates Court this afternoon (Friday, October 19).
The offences are said to be ‘indictable only’, which means they are so serious that they can only be dealt with in the crown court.
Wilson, of Hodder Bank, Offerton, Stockport, is accused of ‘doing an act with intent to cause an explosion likely to endanger life/ injure property’ and ‘causing an explosion likely to endanger life/ injure property’.
The charges are said to relate to an incident “at Chester” on April 2 this year but no further details were revealed in court.
Wilson will appear before a judge at Chester Crown Court next month when he will be expected to enter pleas. He was released on bail in the meantime.
In a statement issued in August this year, a spokesman for Cheshire Police said: “Ryan Wilson, 30, was arrested at Manchester Airport on Thursday 2 August in relation to an attempted ATM attack at a convenience store in Tarvin on Monday 2 April 2018.”
