THE first Polo Fest music festival was hailed as a great success by organisers and festival goers alike over the weekend at the Chester Lakes complex near Dodleston.

Visitors were treated to great music from Toploader, Melanie C, Gok Wan, Sam Bailey and Simon Webbe as well as exhibition polo matches and family entertainment.

“We’ve really enjoyed organising Polo Fest and to see the main music stage marquee jumping with people really enjoying themselves was terrific. All our star performers really pulled out all the stops helping make both days really special,” said organiser Phil Marston.

Melanie C brought the house down with her 90’s Mix Tape DJ set featuring tracks from the Spice Girls and a showstopper at the end of her set from Oasis.

Saturday’s line-up also featured award winning comedy singer-songwriter Jay Foreman, as well as Simon Webbe, Chris Hepworth and headliners Toploader.

Gok Wan’s DJ set on Sunday will live long in the memories of those who were there as the fashion guru invited the audience on the stage to dance with him to a set of nineties old school dance tunes. Sunday also featured the high energy rhythm and blues of popular Cheshire band Zoot Serious, X-Factor winner Sam Bailey who gave the performance of a life time and a further set from Toploader.

Phil added: “I hope that everyone who attended Polo Fest will take away amazing memories of the event, and all the feedback on social media has been great. I think the artists really enjoyed the intimate nature of the event and let their hair down. How many events can say that Simon Webbe walked round after performing to meet everyone and have selfies with them or that a superstar like Gok Wan let them help him cue up the next record for his set?"

“We are being asked by everyone who went about doing it all again next year. We’ll take stock of the weekend over the next few weeks before looking ahead to 2019."
