THE Conservative group has lost a seat on Cheshire West and Chester Council after the member for Tarporley went independent.
Cllr Eveleigh Moore Dutton will now represent Tarporley without party affiliation, having previously served as a Tory councillor for the ward since May 2011.
It means that the ruling Labour group on CWaC now has a stronger grip on control of the council.
Labour has 38 members, while the Conservatives have 35, and there are now two independent members.
The borough is set to head to the polls next May for the local elections.
Cllr Moore Dutton and the Conservative Party have been approached for comment.
