A 40-year-old man is in a critical condition after a collision with a car in Pepper Street, Chester.
Police were called to the scene just after 6.50pm on Friday (August 10) to reports of a collision involving a car and a pedestrian.
At the scene, they arrested a 61-year-old for driving without due care and attention and also driving while unfit through drugs.
The man, from Chester, has since been released under investigation.
The pedestrian, a 40-year-old man from Chester, was taken to Aintree Hospital.
Cheshire Police said today that he remains in a critical condition.
