EMERGENCY services have released dramatic drone footage showing the true scale of the devastating blaze in Llangollen.

Fire crews have been working around the clock to fight and damp down the huge mountainside blaze that has been burning for almost three weeks.

North Wales Fire and Rescue Service has been battling the flames in Llangollen - which started in Llantysilio - since July 19.

Now, North Wales Police have released video footage of the fire as it raged towards the Horseshoe Pass.

The damage has been confirmed to have spread to at least 250 hectares and firefighters have remained at the scene day and night in order to monitor and prevent it spreading.

The incident has seen the closure of the Horseshoe Pass stretch of the A542 for extended periods of time, which reopened overnight on Sunday, August 5, as well as the evacuation of the Ponderosa Cafe due to the spread of smoke and flames.
