WINSFORD will have a double-helping of shows lined up when the Mikron Theatre Company make a welcome return to the town in September.

Yorkshire-based Mikron will be performing ‘Revolting Women – Fight for The Vote’ at Winsford Academy Theatre on Friday, September 14.

Set in 1918, the show tells the story of the suffrage movement, as seen through the eyes of Sylvia Pankhurst, who fought for the vote alongside working women in London’s East End.

John Malam, of Over Allotments Association, said: “There is nothing quite like a Mikron show. This is the eighth time we have booked for them to come to Winsford and now the town council book them to as part of the annual Salt Fair.

“They are performing at 130 venues across the UK this year, and we booked them twelve months ago to be certain of bringing them back to Winsford.”

The following night on Saturday, September 15, the theatre group will entertain an audience in a 100-seat marquee at Winsford Shopping Centre, as part of this year’s Salt Fair when they perform ‘Get Well Soon – 70 years of the NHS’.

Mark Bailey, clerk for Winsford Town Council, said: “It is brilliant having Mikron back once again in Winsford and they are as topical as ever with their show about the NHS.

“The Salt Fair would just not be the same without Mikron and we hope that as many people as possible can come along to help us celebrate the birthday of our wonderful health service.”

Both shows will be told in Mikron’s trademark fast-paced style, with original songs and humour throughout.

The talented cast perform multiple roles and never leave the audience’s sight, not even for a costume change.
