Blacon High School pupils will take to the turf of Reading FC's Madejski Stadium next week as they bid to win the countrywide U13 Boys English Schools' FA (ESFA) PlayStation Smalls Schools' Cup.

The school will be part of the three-day PlayStation Schools' Cup Festival, which runs from Monday to Wednesday, May 21-23.

They will face Greneway Middle School from Royston, Hertfordshire on the Wednesday, with the opportunity to be crowned champions for the first time.

This is the fourth national cup final Blacon High School have contested.

A school spokesperson said: "I cannot praise the team enough for their efforts and attitude making it through to the final and if we play to our capabilities we are a match for anyone on our day."

The finals festival sees all players given the full match-day experience and will play on the Madejski Stadium pitch in front of a lively and enthusiastic crowd. Over 6,000 spectators attended last year's finals, backed by Peter Crouch, Leighton Baines and England women's captain Steph Houghton.

PlayStation UK marketing director Mark Bowles said: "We're delighted to return to Reading Football Club for the 2018 PlayStation Schools' Cup Festival.

"It is great to give so many pupils the chance to represent their school in a national tournament. For the competing players and their travelling supporters, the trip to the Madejski Stadium will be their equivalent to a Wembley final."
