STAR names will come together this weekend to raise money for a tiny Caribbean island which is still recovering from the devastation wreaked by Hurricane Irma.

The Dominica Hurricane Disaster Relief Fundraiser will take place at Holt Lodge Hotel in Wrexham on Saturday (April 28).

It will feature a drinks reception, three-course meal, live music, a DJ, comedian, auction and raffle.

The event has been organised by BBC Flog It star and auctioneer Adam Partridge, who has a home in Dominica and has seen first-hand the ‘heart-breaking’ destruction caused by last year’s hurricane.

Adam has signed up a host of celebs to join him on Saturday, including Red Dwarf actor Danny John-Jules, comedian Ava Vidal and Chester-based chef Ainsley Harriott.

Speaking of his visit to Dominica in February, Adam said: “I was so shocked to find people still living under tarpaulins with no running water or electricity. The people of Dominica are so stoic, carrying on as best they can without the basics of life. It is heart breaking.”

Adam, who has salerooms in Macclesfield and Liverpool, decided to contact some expat Dominicans to help arrange this weekend’s fundraiser.

The night will feature music from a Caribbean steel band.

Adam added: “I am so pleased that Danny and Ava are supporting my efforts to fundraise for Dominica, their home. I have played cricket with Ainsley and he is also pleased to support us on the evening.”

Tickets are £50 and can be booked by calling Adam on 07815 431158 or by emailing adam@rebuilddominica.co.uk. The night begins at 7pm with a rum punch reception.
