GREAT Sutton’s very first ‘museum’ opened its doors last week - thanks to some very creative schoolchildren.

Pupils and staff at Meadow County Primary School have been working hard for some time on a project called ‘A Night at the Museum’, which saw them create displays focusing on various historic eras.

There was an exhibit about dinosaurs in prehistoric times, a look at our more recent history with a display about the Second World War and also a section looking at the Tower of London during the Tudor reign.

The project involved the whole school and was the culmination of over a half-term’s worth of work from both students and staff.

Once the exhibits were complete, the school opened its doors to visitors for three days so the ‘museum’ could be enjoyed by proud parents and the wider public.

It is estimated that 1,500 people visited across three days.

A spokesman for the school said the feedback they received was ‘phenomenal’.

One visitor said they felt like they had ‘visited a real museum’ , adding how it was ‘wonderful to see the Meadow pupils being so engaged with history and presenting their work in such an imaginative way’.

Meadow Primary School would like to thank everyone who visited.
