A CHESTER nursery celebrated its first birthday this week with a party and cake made by the school chef.

The Fir Cones nursery was established last year due to popular demand by parents who wished for a wrap around service for their two-year-olds.

Fir Cone pupils then move onto the Fir Cones Kindergarten after their third birthday.

The whole Fir Cones department enjoyed the special birthday party where they sang 'happy birthday' to the nursery class and then enjoyed sampling the delicious cake.

Lucy Davies, head teacher at The Firs School, said; "The Firs Cones nursery class which opened last February for two year olds has gone from strength to strength this year and has been a wonderful addition to The Firs.

"The nursery, headed up by Mrs Amy Ankers has proved very popular due to its high staff ratio and excellent all round provision. We are looking forward to our second year and welcoming many new children to our wonderful setting."
