A MECHANIC from Ellesmere Port has been accused of making fraudulent MOT certificates.
David William Yates, 27, appeared at Chester Magistrates Court this morning (Friday, March 9) when he entered no plea.
It is alleged that while employed as an MOT tester for a garage on Rother Drive in the town he produced certificates for cars he had not actually tested.
The court heard he had only been qualified for a short period of time before the suspected fraud was spotted.
The case was deemed too serious to be dealt with my magistrates due to the potential abuse of position and danger posed to the public.
Yates, of Parkfield Drive, Whitby, Ellesmere Port, will next appear at Chester Crown Court on April 6 when he is expected to enter a plea.
