THE driver of a Ferrari had to be cut free from the vehicle and taken to hospital following a collision on a major road.

The crash, which took place on the A483 near Rossett shortly after 10.30am on Saturday morning, involved a Ferrari which collided with the central reservation.

Diversions were put in place while emergency services were at the scene, with the road re-opening at around 1pm.

A North Wales Fire and Rescue Service spokesman confirmed the driver of the Ferrari had to be cut from the vehicle.

She said: "We received the call shortly after 10.40am, sending one mobile engine and two pumps from Wrexham.

“The roof has been cut from one of the cars to take a casualty to hospital.”

Shortly after 1pm, the spokesman added: "The vehicle was a Ferrari which had collided with the central reservation.

"The crew is now back from the scene, and the road is open again.

"The driver was taken to Wrexham Maelor Hospital with injuries which are not believed to be life threatening."

Louie Joseph Payton tweeted the Leader and said: “Serious RTA on A483 Southbound.

“Best to avoid as Police redirecting traffic.”
