CALUM MCINTYRE described Chester's FA Youth Cup victory against arch rivals Wrexham as a " really memorable result".

The Blues came out on top in the mini-cross border derby, winning the second qualifying round tie 3-2 in front of more than 600 fans at The Deva Stadium.

"Obviously we are delighted," said McIntyre. "I think it was a tough test.

"You look at where Wrexham are and the level of football they play, I don't think many on the outside would have given us a chance.

"But I thought we were excellent in both boxes and worthy of victory.

"I am delighted for my players and you seen what it means to them at the end.

"I am delighted that we are in the next round and we achieved a really memorable result."

Danny Edwards gave Chester an early lead but Sam Pilkington levelled for Wrexham at the start of the second half.

The game was evenly poised going into the final 15 minutes but centre-back Tom Ruffer - son of former Blues captain Carl - headed home two corners taken by Harry Molyneaux to put his side into the next round, Reds' Matty Sargent scoring a consolation in added time.

"Set-pieces get taken for granted but we work on them," added McIntyre.

"Harry's delivery was excellent and Tom popped up and scored two fantastic goals.

"He is only 16 and I am pleased for him.

"But there were outstanding performances throughout the team.

"Credit to everyone for involved for a really pleasing spectacle."
