CHESTER BOUGHTON HALL will face Northern in this Sunday’s ECB T20 North West Regional Final.

The Filkins Lane club defeated Barnt Green and Stone in the ECB T20 Area Finals Day at Birmingham to claim their place in the last eight of the competition.

Boughton Hall were without spinner Jack Williams who was playing for Cheshire, while Harry Killoran was called up by Derbyshire Academy and, although skipper Lee Dixon and all-rounder Warren Goodwin opted to play for their club, they had a severely weakened attack.

Boughton Hall played Stone in their first game and scored 192 for 6, thanks to Lee Dixon (60), Mark Rowland (41), and Goodwin (34).

In reply, 15-year-old left arm spinner Shaneil Patel took 5-9 off four overs alongside Ross Dixon (2-28) to restrict Stone to 103.

Boughton Hall then scored a six wicket victory against Barnt Green, with Rowland (2-16) and Ross Dixon (2-19) combining to restrict Barnt Green to 115 for 6, before man of the tournament, Goodwin (55), and Lee Dixon (29 not out) pushed their side to a winning reply of 118 for 4.

Boughton Hall will now be aiming to beat Northern this Sunday and progress to the National Finals Day at Wantage Road, Northampton, on Tuesday, September 9, which will be televised live by Sky.

The prize for the winners of the National Finals is an all expenses paid trip to the La Manga Sports Complex in Spain to play the winners of the Royal London Clubs T20 from October 8-13. 

“One more game and if we win it we will be going to the finals day which is live on Sky Sports,” said captain Lee Dixon. “It’s getting very exciting.”

Meanwhile, reigning Liverpool Echo Cup champions, Boughton Hall, will host Liverpool Competition club, Wallasey, in the final on a date yet to be set.

BOB EVANS top scored with 72 runs for Chester Boughton Hall seconds in their 158 runs victory at Alderley Edge seconds.

He was backed up by Rob Morris (61), Steve Ogilby (43) and Karl Steadman (34 not out) as the Filkins Lane club posted 239 for 8 declared off 45 overs.

Dave Atkin (4-39 off 13 overs) and Francis Robson (4-33 off 13 overs) combined to help dismiss Alderley Edge for 81 off 27.4 overs.

Christleton seconds lost by two wickets in their home match against Heaton Mersey.

Russley Crowley (44), Tom Wells (30) and Rob McNally (18) were the only batsmen to reach double figures in Christleton’s total of 130 all out off 45.4 overs thanks to Gurdit Singh (7-39 off 19.4 overs), before the visitors achieved 133 for 8 in reply off 39 overs.

Tattenhall seconds crashed to a nine wicket loss at Warrington seconds.

Mark Sandford (19) top scored for Tattenhall who were dismissed for 86 after 37 overs, thanks mainly to Ryan Swart who took 6-29 off 16 overs.

Warrington needed just 22.2 overs to reach 87 for 4 in their winning reply.

Alvanley seconds suffered a six wicket home loss against Cheadle Hulme.

Opener Mark Szymura (43) top scored for the hosts who posted 181 for 9 off 50 overs, but the visitors amassed a winning reply of 182 for 4 off 46.3 overs.

Saughall’s Cheshire Alliance League Division One promotion hopes were dealt a blow as they slumped to a 31 run defeat at Holmes Chapel.

Spinner Chris Andrews (6-38) impressed in the Saughall bowling attack, but Holmes Chapel reached 151 for 7 off their 45 overs thanks to Stuart (31) and Rebbeck (65 not out) who combined for a 56 run partnership.

Andrews (35) and Ajit Phadke (22) tried to repair the damage but Saughall were 85 for 8 before Adam Griffiths (23 not out) added 35 runs for the ninth wicket with Mandeep Singh (15) before spinner Bhardwa (3 for 53) wrapped up proceedings with two wickets in the 38th over.

Saughall were bowled out for 120 and picked up eight points.

Westminster Park grabbed a four wicket victory at Audlem in Division Two.

Park compiled 130 for 6 off 30 overs after Audlem had been dismissed for 129 off 42 overs.

Chester County Officers remain at the foot of the Cheshire League Division One table after drawing against Romiley, who declared on 183 for 7 despite Rhys Thomas taking 4-45 and Mike Roberts 2-70.

Mike Jones (29) and Chris Wright (19) top scored for Officers in their reply of 105 for 6 to pick up 18 points.

Officers are now 18 points adrift of safety with four games remaining.
