Former Chester manager Neil Young has returned to the club to support manager Marcus Bignot for the remainder of the season.

Young returns to the club on a voluntary basis in a short-term advisory role to assist with first team duties.

Bignot has recruited the 43-year-old in time for Saturday's home game with Aldershot Town as Chester bid to beat the drop in the National League.

On Young's arrival Bignot said: "I sat down a week or so ago and shared with Neil my thoughts and he shared his thoughts with me.

"We are both clubmen, we are not people who are narrow minded, this is about the football club. We share the same values and the same vision.

"For me, to have a manager in the building who has been a manager before is critical. Someone who has been in my shoes and who understands what we are going through."

A Chester FC Legend, Young took the managerial reigns in 2010 following the club's reformation, guiding the Blues to three successive championships and back into the National League by 2013.

Since then he has been Manager of Stockport County and Altrincham, and most recently Caretaker Manager at FC Halifax Town.
