SATURDAY'S ROODEE PREVIEW - JUDGING by the advance ticket sales it looks like all roads will be leading to Chester racecourse for tomorrow afternoon's fixture, writes ARTHUR SHONE.
The County Stand and Tatts have been sold out for some weeks but there are still tickets available for the Dee Stand and the Open course.

There will be a total price fund of £56,600 on offer, which should ensure decent fields at the Roodee.

Clerk of the course, Ed Gretton, lists the going as Good to Firm at the time of writing and racing comes under starters orders at 2.15pm with the Tessuti novices stakes over the minimum trip.

Richard Hannon can take the opener with River Rye. The Acclamation filly will relish the step back to five furlongs as she won over this trip when beating Every Second counts at Windsor.

Cholmondley trainer Donald McCain junior has strong claims of landing the Stirling Fibre Claiming Stakes with Temple Place, who is a course and distance winner at the Roodee, and also a winner over hurdles at Bangor last season.

His charge is clearly better than this company and will go close, but have a saver on the Michael Bell trained Gold Prospect who can be forgiven on his last run at Haydock when completeley missing the break.

Andrew Balding provides the banker bet of the card with My Aunt Fanny (Nap) in the Peter Gilding Maiden Stakes. The Nayef filly was touched off in final stride by Casilda at Salisbury last time out and has strong claims of going one better.

Sir Michael Stoute can land the Radio City Handicap with Criterion. The son of Doctor Fong finished a creditable second to Amerigo last time out and will relish this trip back to a mile and a half.

David Simcock's charge Top Ticket was third last time out to Celtic Dragon and he has a decent each way chance on his current mark.

One of the feature races on the card is the £14,000 Balance Wines Handicap over five furlongs and the main principals in this trappy contest are Taberet and Princess Ellis who are drawn 12 and 8 respectively.

It is worth taking a chance with the latter from the in form Eric Alston yard. The Compton Place filly was unlucky to lose at Ayr last time out when hanging badly in last few yards but prior to that she had run out a cosy winner at Musselburgh.

Wilson's charge Stolt has strong place claims and is drawn well in four.

The getting out stakes at 5.05pm is the Cruise Nightclub handicap over seven furlongs which also has decent prize money of £14,000 on offer.

Adversity can provide Sir Michael Stoute will a double at the Cheshire course, his charge was unlucky at Sandown in his last run when getting stopped twice.

For the forecast I would recommend the Balding trained Transfer who ran out an easy winner by three and a quarter lengths last time out at Lingfield.

Conditions at the Curragh have eased to good after 13 millimetres of rain fell ahead of the three-day Dubai Duty Free Irish Derby meeting which starts on Friday.

"We've had 13 millimetres of rain and there's more rain forecast. The going will be updated tomorrow morning. The forecast is unsettled," said a racecourse spokeswoman.

Casual Conquest, third in the Vodafone Derby, was the best backed horse ahead of Sunday's Classic on Thursday, with Dermot Weld's colt cut to 6-1 from 7-1 with Ladbrokes and 5-1 from 13-2 with VC Bet.

Ladbrokes' David Williams said: "Casual Conquest is the only attractive alternative to New Approach at this stage of the betting."
