AROUND THE CHESHIRE LEAGUE WICKETS - STEVE OGILBY has singled out Alex Kegg's performances ahead of tomorrow's Premier Division home match against Neston.
Chester Boughton Hall skipper, Ogilby, pinpointed a number of keynote performances so far this term from the former club captain.

He said: "Defeating Oulton Park and becoming the first club to beat them for three years was a highlight from this season, and reaching the last four in the League 20/20 Cup Competition.

"Individually I think Alex Kegg has had a fantastic year after reaching the milestone of 50 wickets so far this season, following on from the 50 wickets he took last year.

"Warren Goodwin has also been performing well for Cheshire as well. He has shown his potential and we're hoping he can perform in our last few games."

Batsmen Jim Gillson and Freddie Owen return to strengthen Hall's batting order replacing Byron Ward and Andy Forrest who deputised last week.

Ogilby is looking to see his team win their last home match of the year against neighbours Neston after seeing his younger members of the squad perform well last week: "I've been pleased with Jack Williams, and Ollie Law in recent weeks and their form provides a lot of hope for the future."

Christleton skipper Paul Allen is keen to see his team completing their season on a winning note at Cheadle Hulme.

Allen has earmarked a number of performances during the last few weeks that have given the team plenty of confidence for the remainder of the campaign.

He said: "Matt Parkinson's bowling, Scott Graves behind the stumps, the batting displays of Rick Moore, and the all-round performances from Iroshan de Silva have all been highlights from our recent games.

"Iroshan now feels at home and he is a key player in the team.

"I'd be disappointed with anything less than three victories from our remaining games.

"If we can play to our ability then other sides will struggle to compete with us.

"I think we've got the right balance in the team at the moment, but I still think we need to bring players into the club. We don't want to be scraping around for players next year, but at the moment I feel we're more than capable of building on our current squad."

Batsman Chris Brooks and fielder Russell Anderson are named in Christleton's side tomorrow in place of Jason Ashcroft, and Gareth Jacobs who returns to the seconds.

Tattenhall face a home match in Division Two against Irby tomorrow, and skipper Rob Mulvihill saw his side's hopes of promotion fade in defeat at Burnage last weekend.

All-rounder Andy Morris and batsman Graham Harper are back in the Tattenhall team.

Alvanley entertain Davenham while Saughall travel to Haslington hoping to bounce back from their first defeat in three months against league-leaders Rylands.

Adam Griffiths and Ian Peters are both recalled in place of Ben Salisbury and Andy Thomas as Saughall still have ambitions of finishing top with two games left.

League leaders Barrow are targeting promotion tomorrow with a win at home to third-placed Weaverham in Division Two of the Cheshire League.

Mal Barrow and Phil Johnson will be attempting to make life difficult for Weaverham and will be aiming to receive support from Marlon Barclay and Lee Dwyer.

Chester County Officers face a must-win game at home to Winsford tomorrow.

Officers are in a three-horse race with Wilmslow and Bowden Vale to survive the dreaded drop after suffering a defeat last weekend against Weaverham.

Chris Wright returns to the side against their fifth bottom visitors.
