ANGLING - Carp-sharp Gary wins the Rovers' Hampton match

Gary Vincent opened the week's action with a win at Hampton's Meadow, fishing in the Tuesday Rovers Open, writes MARTIN POWELL.
Gary netted his way to a 69lb return, taking carp shallow to pellet at 16 metres. Charlie Meyers was second with a similar net for 49lb, leaving Phil Barwell third with 40lb 8oz.

The Wednesday Open at Offa's Dyke saw Ray Williams win the day with a crucian and roach return for 13lb 7oz. Ray Haynes took a much similar net for second with 13lb 6oz. Tony Belcher was third with 8lb 11oz.

Richie O Connor took the coin at the Wednesday Open at Buckley, winning the day with two carp and bits off peg 40 to return 24lb 9oz. Paul Keeley was second with crucians, tench and roach for 9lb 8oz, with Chris Ellis in third place with his 6lb 8oz silvers net.

Sunday saw Buckley in action at Flint where Graham Davidson won the day with bream and skimmers for 11lb 8oz. Kevin Carr connected with skimmers and roach, for second, returning 6lb 8oz. Mike Ellis closed the frame in third with 6lb 2oz.

The Tuesday Match at Leeswood's Lake of Tranquillity was headed up by Lionel Evison with a 29lb 15oz carp based net. Les Picken was second with 28lb 4oz, with Chris Openshaw in third place with 26lb 8oz.

Thursday saw Gwylym Lloyd win the day with a carp net taken to the pellet waggler for a 78lb 2oz return. Terry Windsor was second on the score card with 47lb 8oz with Ian Jones returned third with 29lb 6oz.

Sunday saw Ian Jones win the day with 24lb 14oz of carp and chub, taken off the horseshoe. John Mainwaring was second on the day with 24lb 9oz and Reg Gilbert was third placed with 23lb 4oz.

Deeside College fished at Tranquillity on Saturday where Craig Gratton won the day with 32lb 3oz taken off the horseshoe. Jamie Samuels was returned second place with 31lb 12oz and Dave Morris was third on the day with 29lb 4oz.

Gareth Thomas won the day at the Corus Colours match with a 3lb 12oz net of bits. Derek Hewitt was the only other weigher, returned second with 3lb 9oz.

Ian Hughes netted his way to a win at the Thursday Connah's Quay Open, winning the match with a skimmer based 11lb 4oz. Gareth Davies took the coin for second with a level 9lb, with Steve Norman in third place with 6lb 10oz.

Sunday their action was fished at on Bron Eifion where Martin Holding won the day, netting the weight of the week at 116lb 2oz. Alan Murray also broke the ton with 114lb 12oz, with Dave |Ward in third place with a respectable 71lb 8oz.

Aerospace fished on Buckley where John Porter called upon his local Knowledge to win the day with a skimmer based 27lb win, taken off peg 40 on the sand bank. Steve Norman was returned second on the day with 12lb 10oz off the helipad, with Pete Ellis in third place with a lump and bits for 11lb 8oz.

Moss Valley was in action on Saturday on the Lake if Tranquillity where Neil Jones drew peg 1 and netted his way to a 60lb 2oz win. Kev Williams was second on the day with 34lb 4oz, leaving Martin Churchill in third place with 30lb 12oz.

The Saturday Open at Tarvin Sands was won by Chris Diamond who connected with carp on the splasher and pellet to win the day with 60lb 8oz. Adi Bell was returned second using the same tactics, returning 40lb 4oz. Rob Dickenson fished the pole for third place with his 33lb 8oz return.

Royal Mail Chester fished out their latest match on Tranquillity where Phil Robert again took the money with his 52lb 5oz winning net. George Rothwell slipped the net under a second placed 50lb 8oz, leaving Charlie Cooke in third place with 40lb 8oz.

Chester Police Fly Fishers fished off the boats at Llyn Brennig where Mike Wellman won the 6 fish event with a full house taken to an orange blob for 11lb 14oz.

Richard Hudd was second with 6 fish for 10lb 12oz with Neil Cowley in third place, again with a full house for 10lb 6oz.

Mickle Trafford travelled to Wall Goch near Mold for their latest outing where Derek Bale won the best brace match with a double of 9lb 1oz taken to a fritz.

Phil Filby netted his way to second with a brace for 6lb 11oz; including the best fish of the day at 5lb 2oz. Billy Moore was third placed with 6lb 2oz.

Phil Hardman won the Saturday Open at Hampton Springs, fished out on Meadow. Phil took a level 80lb to clinch the match! Tony Mathias netted his way to second place with a level 50lb, leaving Alan Jones to close out the frame in third with 46lb 4oz.

The Sunday Evening Open was won by Martin Wedley who took a carp based net for 61lb 6oz. Dave Lang was second with 47lb 2oz, with Graham Lewis in third place with 45lb 6oz.

The Rake and Pikel fished out their latest match on Weston's Belvedere where Paul Edwards won the day with 24lb. Dave Stuart was second placed with 20lb 2oz, with Don Sexton in third place with 19lb 6oz

Saint Teresa's close out the week's action at Hampton's Oasis where Andy Griifiths was again returned the winner with a 23lb mixed bag. Joe Roddy netted his way to a second placed accolade with 17lb 8oz, with John Rowland in third place with 17lb 4oz.
