CHESTER Netball Club held their annual junior tournament with over 80 teams competing across two days.

Chester Buds – the youngest side at the club – took part in their first ever tournament, while the under 8s produced a fine performance to finish as runners-up in the round robin format.

Chester Cherries under nines took part in a thrilling final which finished 5-5 in normal time, with Oldham edging ahead 7-6 in extra time. Chester Cubs were also in the under nines contest but did not qualify for the semi-final stage.

At under 10s, Chester Hawks finished third in the heats having beaten Trafford, taking two matches by 14-0 and 11-0 scorelines.

Chester Falcons won two of their eight matches while Chester Kestrels secured one win on the day.

Chester under 11s put up a good fight in a tough group to finish sixth overall, while the under 12s had a superb day, finishing as runners-up overall having lost 10-4 to Oldham in the final, the only side to beat them all day.

Chester Chillies under 13s had a good day despite being unable to win a match while Chester Thunder finishing third of 10, having won seven of their nine outings.

Chester Gladiators under 14s have enjoyed a fine season, finishing second in the National Club Finals back in May, but came unstuck in the semi-finals here against Tameside.

In the same age group, Chester Legions finished fourth in their pool, narrowly missing out on the final four.

In the under 15s, Chester Divas finished fifth in their group, just missing out on the semi-finals, but the girls showed endless support for each other while out on the court.
