UPTON AA produced a stunning late comeback as they battled back from three goals down to salvage a 3-3 draw at West Cheshire Division One rivals Richmond Raith Rovers.

The feat was made even more impressive by the fact the visitors finished the game with nine men.

Rovers dominated the first half and took a commanding lead through strikes from Joe McLoughlin,Jonathon Parkinson and Aiden Preston.

Any hopes of an Upton comeback looked remote when both Dan Chatburn and Sean Finch were dismissed for the visitors early in the second half.

But Will Kent reduced made it 3-1with 15 minutes to go, before a further effort from Nathan Mapletoft gave Upton renewed hope.

The unlikeliest of comebacks was completed when Sam Pickering netted late on.

Upton manager Todd Reid said: "It was an eventful and strange game, spoiled by three poor officials.

"We showed great character to come back as we did in the circumstances and I thought both Will Kent and Joe Melia both had a big impact in the comeback."

Chester Nomads' winless run stretched to five games after their 2-2 draw at basement side West Kirby.

Allesandro Malletta and Mitchell Mowatt were on target for the visitors.

Division one leaders Maghull hammered Redgate Rovers 5-1, Rainhill Town and Mossley Hill Athletic drew 0-0, Hale lost 2-1 at South Liverpool, while Vauxhall Moors Reserves were held to a 1-1 draw at home by Ellesmere Port Town.

Blacon YC are now joint top of Cheshire League One after a 3-1 home victory over Styal.

Goals from Aaron Hinchcliffe, Joe Zipfel and Callum Bratley clinched victory for Matthew Mackin's side who moved level with leaders Broadheath Central.
