CARE home residents have enjoyed some special arrivals over Easter.

Warrendale Cottage residential care home in Broughton received 10 eggs from an organisation called Living Eggs just over a week ago.

And four days after they arrived, the eggs began to hatch - to the delight of residents.

Rosa Lopez, senior supervisor at Warrendale Cottage, told the Leader: “When they started, a couple hatched each day. All the chicks have hatched now and staff are looking after, feeding and cleaning them.

“Residents are asked every day if they would like to help by holding the chicks and they love it - they are so happy.

“The chicks are now moving around and the residents really enjoy just watching them as well.

“It actually helps them to remember their younger days because they tell us stories of when they with their mum and dad on farms and what they used to do. It is really nice to see.”
