HUNDREDS of chocolate eggs and other goodies were handed out to care home residents by kindhearted scooter enthusiasts.

A group of eight scooter riders set off from the White Bear Pub in Mancot on Saturday morning, followed by a car full of donated Easter eggs, chocolates and biscuits.

The riders - members of Mancot Road Runners and Chester Legion XX Scooter Crew - braved chilly and wet weather conditions to visit care homes in Buckley, Sandycroft and Greenfield where they handed out the gifts to elderly residents.

Organiser Steve Hill of the Mancot Road Runners Scooter Club - who set up the scheme with White Bear landlord Craig O’Brien and Kevin Williams - said he was delighted with the result.

He said: "It was absolutely great - we are hoping to make it an annual thing now.

"I'd like to thank the Chester Legions Scooter Club for joining us on the day, and Craig O'Brien, Kev 'Cokey' Williams, Dave Evans and Pete 'the egg man' Brennan for all their help and support. I'd also like to thank everyone who donated eggs and treats for the run."

Craig O'Brien added: "It was a brilliant day. The weather was cold and wet but we braved it and the residents and staff we visited were absolutely made up.

"We had a good few hundred eggs handed in by customers at the pub, staff and other scooter clubs - and then about 30 boxes of assorted biscuits as well as boxes of chocolates."
