YOU’VE probably heard of firefighters rescuing cats from trees.

But yesterday (Sunday, April 29) Cheshire crews were called on to rescue both a stranded moggy AND the wannabe hero who had climbed up into the branches after it.

The incident happened at around 1.35pm on Petersgate in Runcorn and involved two fire engines and the rope rescue team.

A spokesman for Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service said: “Firefighters had to rescue a man who had become stuck in a tree whilst he was trying to rescue a cat on Petersgate, Runcorn.

“Crews used a seven-metre ladder to rescue the man, and the cat, who were stuck about 20ft up the tree.”
