CHESHIRE firefighters spent five hours rescuing a kitten that had become stuck in a drain.
Three crews, including the animal rescue team, attended the scene at Pool Street in Macclesfield at 6pm yesterday (Thursday, April 26).
They discovered the curious cat had ventured into a surface water drain and used a camera provided by United Utilities to locate the frightened creature.
A spokesman for Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service said: “With the help of the camera fire crews found the kitten, which was stuck in the drain.
“Firefighters wearing personal protection equipment entered the water and the kitten was rescued from the drain.
“It took firefighters four-and-a-half hours to locate and then rescue the kitten. Crews were in attendance for around five hours and 15 minutes.”
