PRINCE Harry and Meghan Markle tie the knot on Saturday – but it seems there is little appetite to celebrate the royal wedding in the Chester area.

A Cheshire West and Chester Council spokesman confirmed they had received no formal applications to close any roads for street parties in the whole of the borough.

Unlike 2011, when a total of 12 roads were closed across Cheshire West to allow residents to hold street parties toasting the royal wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton, this year will see no official street parties held.

The council spokesman said while the council had received "two or three" enquiries about potential street closures, they had gone no further.

However, all is not lost for royal aficionados, as the Lion Salt Works in Northwich is offering the chance for visitors to watch the wedding and the FA Cup final on a big screen, as part of a weekend of free events taking place there.

The museum's second Live and Local Music Festival, which runs from noon on Saturday, will also feature events such as crown and tiara-making and a football-themed tug of war contest.

The museum's cafe will be serving Meghan Milkshakes and Ginger Lattes.

In addition, there will be a licensed bar, gift stalls, festival clothing, sweets, cakes and children's activities.
