A LONER has admitted pleasuring himself while watching a couple kiss in the smoking area of a pub.

Christopher John McKenzie, 51, of Belmont Drive, Saltney Ferry, has been sentenced to a community order and must sign on the sex offenders register for five years.

The startled women alerted police after spotting him with his belt undone and hand down his trousers at the Liverpool Arms on Northgate Street, Chester.

Sentencing at Chester Magistrates Court, magistrates' chairman Andrew Merrill told him: “Your behaviour on that night was not that of a gentleman.”

The court heard the couple had gone outside to the smoking area at about 11.30pm on Tuesday, March 20.

Three girls coming the other way warned them to be careful as a man had just exposed his penis to them.

Having reached the seating area, the couple began kissing before they noticed McKenzie pleasuring himself with his penis clearly visible out the top of his trousers.

They alerted pub staff who ordered him to leave. The two women spotted him at another venue later that night and decided to call the police.

McKenzie, who had no previous convictions, was arrested and later made full admissions during his interview.

Howard Jones, defending, said his client had pleaded guilty to the charge of exposure at the first opportunity, adding: “He is an individual who has become somewhat socially isolated.”

The community order will last for two years and will include a 20-day rehabilitation activity requirement. McKenzie was also fined £40 and must pay £85 court costs and a victim surcharge of £85.

He was ordered to present himself at Mold Police Station every week to sign on the sex offenders register.
