BOMB experts and Cheshire Police are satisfied that a device discovered at a Chester home poses no threat.

A spokesman confirmed at 4.15pm on Wednesday, May 2, that the cordon and road closures around Blacon Avenue have now been lifted.

He said: "We are satisfied that there is no risk of explosion. It will now be taken away from the scene for further examination."

It comes after officers discovered what was believed to be a 'suspicious device' while executing a warrant at a property at 7.50am. A 42-year-old man was arrested.

At the time, police said: "While there they discovered what appeared to be a suspicious device.

"As a precaution, the Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team has been called and a cordon is in place near the address.

"There are road closures from the junction with Shelley Road to Saughall Road. There is not thought to be any wider public risk, but officers remain in the area to provide reassurance to the local community."
