CHESHIRE police have clocked eight vehicles breaking the speed limit in just half an hour on a road on the outskirts of Chester.
Speed cameras were operating on Chester Road, Huntington, this morning.
Cheshire Police tweeted: “Speed enforcement has been carried out this morning on Chester Road, Huntington. In just over half an hour 8 vehicles have been captured exceeding the 30mph speed limit.”
Cheshire Police added that the details of the vehicles have been sent to the Central Ticket Office.
The latest enforcement follows a week of action to combat speeding in Cheshire that saw police deal with more than 1,000 offending motorists.
A total of 1,142 offences were dealt with over the seven-day speed enforcement operation, which ran from 16-26 April.
Sergeant Brad Hughes said: “Sadly, the results show that there are still some motorists who simply do not appreciate the dangers of speeding. While it may seem like a minor offence, the fact is people are being killed and seriously injured on our roads because of motorists driving at excessive speed.
“Travelling a couple of miles over the speed limit may not seem like much – but a pedestrian hit at 40mph is four times more likely to be killed than being hit at 30mph.”
