THE main swimming pool at Chester's Northgate Arena will remain closed for several weeks as bespoke parts to fix "a complex technical issue" are installed.

Brio Leisure, which runs the Victoria Road facility, says it hopes to have the pool fully reopened "before the end of June", after the problem forced its closure at the start of this month.

A statement on the Brio Leisure Twitter feed said: "We're sorry! The leisure pool and sauna are currently closed due to a complex technical issue relating to the air handling unit.

"The parts we need are being built and have been specifically designed for Northgate Arena.

"Once these arrive, we'll fit these as quickly as possible and we'll begin to fill the pool and reopen before the end of June.

"We'll have it back up and running as soon as we can!"

The statement added: "In the meantime, the training pool is being utilised to support swimming lessons, aqua classes and public swimming sessions in the morning, afternoon and evening during the weekdays, and in the evenings at the weekend."

The other facilities at the venue are not affected.
