STAFF from The Chester Grosvenor hotel participated in a fun-run relay through the city centre on Wednesday 16th May in the name of National Waiter’s Day – a UK-wide celebration which champions the hard work and dedication of hospitality professionals.

Starting at 4pm, waiters, bartenders and other front-of-house professionals made a dash from Eastgate Street to Chester Cross and back again, while precariously balancing plastic glasses of wine on trays.

It was the La Brasserie team who managed to cross the finishing line first, demonstrating expert tray handling skills with a full glass of wine at the end of the race.

General Manager of The Chester Grosvenor, Richard Grove, said: “It is essential that we celebrate the hard work of our exceptional front-of-house professionals, as well as promote how rewarding and fulfilling a career in the hospitality industry can be.

Celebrating its sixth year, National Waiter’s Day is the brainchild of restaurant industry professional, Fred Sirieix, the general manager at Galvin at Windows at the London Hilton on Park Lane, and host of Channel 4’s First Dates. It aims to showcase and celebrate the skills of all front-of-house staff and promote the potential for rewarding careers in the hospitality industry, which employs over 2.9 million people in the UK.
