Sir Tom Jones will belt out some of his biggest hits at a major outdoor gig at Chester Racecourse this summer.

The concert, announced this morning, will take place on Thursday, July 19 and promoters are promising the 77-year-old Welsh legend will deliver "an unforgettable evening" of entertainment.

It's not unusual to see Sir Tom in these parts.

Last summer, he thrilled fans with an outdoor show at Delamere Forest as part of the Forestry Commission’s annual series of concerts.

He will be back this summer, courtesy of promoters LHG Live who have also signed him up to play Powderham Castle in Exeter just a few days before he comes to the Roodee.

A tweet from Sir Tom's official Twitter account this morning read: "Exeter and Chester, I am pleased to announce shows for my tour this summer! See you in July!"

Liz Doogan-Hobbs MBE, CEO of promoters LHG Live, added: "We are delighted to be working with Tom Jones once again at the Chester concert.

"Sir Tom is an incredible artist. He captivates his fans whenever he takes to the stage. It is going to be a beautiful summer evening filled with his most recognisable and popular hits, and a fantastic setting for an outdoor concert.”

Sir Tom has notched up more than 100 million records sales in a career spanning more than 50 years. He made his name with hits such as It’s Not Unusual, Delilah and What’s New Pussycat, and has more recently been seen on television as a coach on ITV talent show The Voice.

Tickets for Sir Tom's Chester Racecourse gig go on general sale on Friday (March 9) at 9am. Both seated and standing tickets are available, priced at: £39.50 (standing), £49.50 (silver seated) and from £69.50 (gold seated). Booking fees also apply.
