A SERIAL domestic abuser who strangled, crushed, and dragged his ex-girlfriend around by the hair while serving a suspended prison sentence for assaulting her has been jailed.

Lee Horsfield, of Wharton Road, also admitted pinning her to the ground, stamping on her back, and causing a crush injury to her ankle after police caught up with him.

The 43-year-old was given a 12-month prison sentence, suspended for two years, in February 2023, for assaulting the same woman, as well as an indefinite restraining order, which the following October police discovered he had ignored.

After this came to light, Horsfield was arrested at his home in Winsford and gave a no comment interview, but was still charged with assault causing ABH, non-fatal strangulation, and breaching a restraining order.

He appeared at Chester Crown Court to learn his fate on Wednesday, April 24, where he was sentenced to two years, 10 months in prison.

After the sentence hearing, Detective Constable Ellie Byrne said: “I welcome the sentence handed to Horsfield, and I hope he spends his time behind bars reflecting on his actions.

“His behaviour towards his victim was horrific, and I cannot even imagine the fear and pain she suffered at his hands.

“Nobody should have to experience what she has been through, but thanks to her bravery, he has now been held accountable.

“While she may never forget what he did, I hope this result will provide her with some closure and allow her to move forward with her life.”
