Oak Grange Care Home in Mollington has embarked on a community garden project.

Teaming up with pupils from St Oswalds School, the residents are gearing up to rejuvenate their garden gazebo on May 17.

Students will paint the gazebo in a range of different colours, with an assortment of garden ornaments and twinkling lights to be added as well, providing a vibrant and welcoming space for residents to unwind.

This isn't the first collaboration with the local school.

Last year, the children helped fill raised garden beds with a myriad of brightly coloured plants.

Sarah Butler, general manager at Oak Grange, said: "Our garden is a much loved space, residents really enjoy looking after the plants and flowers, watching them grow and change through the seasons.

"May is such a fantastic time to be outside enjoying the garden, many of our flowers are coming into bloom now so we will all enjoy being out in the garden and sitting in our newly refurbished garden gazebo."

Resident Paula also said: "I love being in the garden and now we will have a lovely gazebo to sit in when we need a bit of shade to keep us from getting too warm."

Such initiatives are part of Oak Grange's life enrichment programme, designed to keep residents active through a range of physical, mental, and spiritual activities, tailored to their interests and abilities.
