PROMOTION was already in the bag but there was no let-up from Wrexham who beat play-off contenders Crewe Alexandra 3-0 in the penultimate game of another successful season.

Having thrashed Forest Green Rovers 6-0 the previous weekend to secure a top-three finish in League Two, the Reds could have been forgiven for taking their foot off the gas at Gresty Road.

But Wrexham totally dominated their final away match of the campaign and cruised to victory in front of nearly 1,700 travelling supporters who created a party atmosphere and continued the promotion celebrations.

Ollie Palmer and Paul Mullin, with his 26th goal of the season, had the Reds deservedly 2-0 up at the break and after Crewe were reduced to 10 men early in the second half, Andy Cannon got in on the act as Wrexham made it four wins in a row.

Here's how the players rated.

ARTHUR OKONKWO: Didn’t have many saves to make but you can’t knock another clean sheet. 7

RYAN BARNETT: Made in-roads down the right as he caused Crewe lots of problems when he attacked. 8

MAX CLEWORTH: The Wrexham defence was superb and dealt with everything asked of them. 8

EOGHAN O’CONNELL: A rock at the heart of defence and distribution was superb as well. 8

TOM O’CONNOR: Nullified Crewe’s threat and his free-kick led to the second goal. 8

JAMES MCCLEAN: Got in some good positions but was shown a yellow card and was taken off at the break. 7

ANDY CANNON: Drove forward at every opportunity and was rewarded with a well-taken goal. 8

LUKE YOUNG: The captain came into the side and was a presence in front of the defence, dictating play. Brilliant performance. 8

ELLIOT LEE: Supplied an exquisite pass that was finished off by Cannon for the third goal. 8

PAUL MULLIN: Brilliant cross for Palmer to open the scoring and netted with an excellent finish of his own. 8

OLLIE PALMER: Won everything in the air, worked hard in attack and was rewarded with the opening goal and an assist for Mullin. 8
